I have this thing about notebooks, this thing being that I fall in love with most every one I meet. Yesterday I met one such notebook, and I can't stop thinking about it.
Behold:
The colour, the design, the fact Pluto is acknowledged as a ‘sometimes’ planet. It is perfect. It is a must buy. It is... Superfluous to requirements, Charlotte, don't you already have 5 notebooks you've not yet put pen to?* (It's hard living by a well stocked WHSmith, it truly is)
* Not because I have nothing to say, clearly, but for fear of needlessly defiling them - I know I'm not alone in this. Should we start a support group?
Having admired my paramour from every angle as my 4 year old similarly admired a wooden yo yo, I replaced it on the shelf, and walked away.
This event (for it is an event each time one falls in love) occurred on our town’s most festive day and so, fresh off a visit to what was probably the worst Santa ever - who mummy has since complained about #Karen - we followed up our notebook/yo yo lovefest with a pilgrimage to the Christmas markets, to choose our gifts for others. I came across a bracelet I loved (as a gift for myself) and again, I walked away
Here it is:
I have a real thing for beaded bracelets right now, especially the ones that promise me inner peace.
As we were leaving, feeling torn, my infant daughter started rooting for milk and, as a result, we stayed in the vicinity of the market longer than planned. Anyway, I went back and bought the bracelet
I did not, on walking past Waterstones afterward, buy the notebook
And that, my friends, is what they call ‘growth’.
Some other things I’ve fallen in love with:
1/ This beaded bag, which I don’t use to house nappies…
2/ … And this Kate Spade backpack, which I do. I always promised myself I’d one day own a Kate Spade. Didn’t imagine this would be its use, but you roll with the punches.
3/ Pastel de nata. I don’t know how I lived without these.
4/ Costa cinnamon buns with cream cheese frosting, heated up. I literally ate one every day for a week when I discovered them last month (don’t judge me, I’ve just had a baby.)
5/ My daughter’s Baby Bjorn rocker, found for just £30 on Facebook. A freakin’ steal, as Chandler Bing would say.
6/ Sam Bratby art. Her food series speaks to my soul.
And
7/ The Soak Sunday ‘Cleo’s Paradise’ honey and oat scented candle.
